Furthermore, writing recipes requires you to use numerous grammatical forms such as phrasal verbs and sequence connectors while learning lots of interesting new vocabulary. Finally, this activity will introduce you to an unusual piece of U.S. culture which you won’t find in any textbook. <BR><BR> <i> What do you think of when you think of American food?</i> <BR><BR> Today I’m going to introduce you to a very different kind of American <i>cuisine </i> loved by hundreds of <i> Southern Rednecks </i> throughout the southern U.S. The Cooters are having a big redneck <u>cookout</u> <u>coming-up</u> on the 12th and the whole <i> clan’s</i> gonna be there. So we need to <u>cook-up</u> some <i> bodacious vittles</i> to serve them. <BR><BR> Welcome to the Road Kill Café <i>You Kill em; we grill em.</i> <BR><BR> <B>Here’s how it goes:</B> <BR> <ol><li> I’ll divide the class into partners. </li><br><li> Each partnership will select a piece of paper from a pile on the table. On each piece of paper you will find the name of a delicious food dish served at the Road Kill Café. This piece of paper will also include a list of ingredients and cooking equipment you’ll need to make the food dish. </li><br><li> Working with your partner, use your imagination to tell us the steps to follow to make the food dish. Remember; you are writing recipes. Recipes have lots of phrasal verbs in them. So, be sure to use some of the phrasal verbs which we talked about in class and use sequence connectors to connect the steps together. </li><br><li> Each partnership will share their recipe with the rest of the class. </li> </ol> <BR> If you wish to you can add more ingredients to your recipe.
